Environmental Trends for 2018

Single Use Plastic Bags with Vegetables

As some of the biggest stores in Australia eliminate single-use plastic bags, we will see a movement towards people thinking harder about their personal impact on the environment. The transition into bringing your own reusable bags to the store may be a slightly bumpy one, but once it becomes a habit, you will actually feel proud of the fact that you have made a conscious choice to do your bit for the environment. It’s important to be aware of the amount of plastic we consume in everyday life so that we can make alternative choices that make use of less or no plastic packaging.

Another eco-trend that is easy to adopt is reusable coffee/tea cups. Not only do they now come in trendy colours and patterns but most are dishwasher friendly and fit in any bag/briefcase.

Eco-friendly Fashion – sustainable garments are a huge fashion trend at the moment. Having a greater awareness of the fashion industries impact on the environment is becoming increasingly important. The textile industry creates pollution, harbours illegal and unfair labour conditions and uses unsustainable materials. Brands are now encouraging eco-friendly approaches such as the use of sustainable materials like cotton and bamboo and choosing to hand over the goods in a paper bag instead of a plastic one.
