It is actually a far better choice if you are in an area prone to high winds and earthquakes, there is the added benefit too of it being resistant to termites and rot.

Costs

The immediate assumption is that to do anything other than what is traditional, will end up costing you more. But recycled materials can work our cheaper, for example, bamboo flooring and glass countertops.

Toxins

The amount of toxins building material release into the air over time is still not completely understood. Materials such as carpets, paints and upholstery all slowly release toxins in the air around us. Eco-friendly materials are often labelled non/low VOC, which makes it far safer to have in the home.

Green Technology

Because eco-friendly homes will have newer technology ie solar panels, they will have a lower cost associated with energy usage. This makes a green home very appealing to a new buyer as it will save them money in the long run.
